Allyson Brown is a businesswoman, writer and filmmaker. Her African and American cultures influence her work. Her first book, Le Papillon et l’Arc-en-Ciel (The Butterfly and The Rainbow) was published in Ivory Coast in 2000. Her next two books and workbooks, The Elephant and the Lion and Beautiful Sassalita, were published in Nigeria in 2007. In 2015, Th Tress Spoke, were Published in the PennUnion Journal by Johns Hopkins University.
The Best Jungle Christmas (Un merveilleux Noël dans la jungle) her first film, was a children’s puppet movie. It was featured at the World Festival of PuppetArt in Prague, Czech Republic and the International Film Festival of Amiens, France in 2009. The Butterfly and the Rainbow, Ms. Brown’s second movie was filmed and launched in Lome, Togo in 2014. In 2016, Ms. Brown co-directed and produced a short film entitled, The Turnaround Dance. It was filmed in Virginia, USA. This movie was featured in Virginia USA. This movie was featured in the Pan African Film Festival in February and the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival in 2016. Her new feature film, No, Not Me! is a Liberian love story which captures the problems of FGM and the havoc caused by the disadvantaged youth in Monrovia, Liberia. No, Not Me! is schelduled to be released in 2024.
